FROM THE GROUND

We hope you have been enjoying the plentiful snowfall as much as we have! We are thankful for our infrastructure – our high tunnels, greenhouses and now a recently finished Wash/Pack House (woohoo!) – that supports our season extension efforts and keeps our cold-hardy crops protected from the wintry mix.
Our new Wash/Pack house is fully constructed, thanks to Servants Inc. LLC of Red Lion, PA! All that remains is the final electrical and plumbing work to ensure we have hot water lines to our three-bay sink for winter vegetable preparation as well as overhead lighting for evening tasks. You can see the process in our photo compilation below! We also invite you to visit our DONATE button at the bottom of this newsletter to fund the finishing of our Season Extension Projects – full accomodations in the Wash/Pack House, High Tunnel Winterization & so much more x

Keep reading to see how these Season Extension Projects are already making an impact in our community & helping to feed our neighbors through the colder months of the year; the potential for increased impact is great through continuing infrastructural improvements at Willis Urban Farm.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

Inspired by our Final 2020 Winter Share delivered this past week, we encourage you to try this warming & hearty Skillet Lemon Chicken with Potatoes & Kale:

2020 YEAR END REPORT

ON THE STREET

We had a successful Mobile Produce Market Extension, offering a few of our market stops until the Thanksgiving Holiday, including:
– rabbittransit Bus Center
– CPC/WIC Office
– York Towne House
All hosted markets were well received and confirmed our inclinations that offering our Mobile Produce Market more than 6 months out the year is welcomed by our customers and needed by our community to maintain the health of our neighbors.
In addition to the extra Markets, York Fresh Food Farms offered a 2020 Winter Share Program, the final share of which was delivered this past week. With the on-going health crisis facing our nation and communities, these home delivered shares of fresh vegetables, fruits & local eggs have been very well received & we are excited to offer a 2021 Winter Share Program! The shares in the New Year will be Home Delivered on a biweekly basis, SNAP/EBT accepted as always as well as cash/card; to ensure you get the details on our Winter Produce offerings and all of our future pre-ordering options – Home Delivery & Market PickUp – be sure to sign up and subscribe at bit.ly/y3fform.

We received some humbling holiday cheer from our 2020 Winter Share Neighbors that we’d like to share with all of you:
“Thank you so much for offering the Winter CSA & delivering it as well! It was much appreciated!”
“I don’t know what I would do without you guys; thank you for keeping me healthy this Winter”
“Thank you for keeping me & my family well-fed with your super fresh produce”

We are grateful for all that is and all that is to come! Thank you for your continued support of our mission & your interest in our work here in the beautiful City of York.

We have many aspirations for service in the New Year and invite you to give towards our mission to Cultivate Community Health through Agriculture, Access & Affordability as we continue to grow in our community for our community.

The Warmest of Happy Holidays to You & Yours,
Your Neighborhood Farmers at York Fresh Food Farms
