Get Your Hands Dirty:
a free, farm-based learning program for York City kids.
The 2021 Get Your Hands Dirty program was a farm-based or experiential learning program for York City kids to have fun outside and experience where food comes from, how to grow vegetables, making healthy food choices, learning about plants, insects, the environment, the weather and fresh food and motivate children to try new foods.
Get Your Hands Dirty provided City kids with once-a-week active farm experiences including: growing plants from seed, vegetable gardening, learning how plants grow, why plants are important, about fruits and vegetables, about worms, about insects/pollinators and making healthy food choices. Two experienced educators and volunteers lead the program’s lessons, activities, crafts and projects. The program was held behind 1195 Roosevelt Avenue.

We are very grateful to the following funders that have helped make the Get Your Hands Program possible in 2019:
The Harley-Davidson Foundation
The William R. and Esther Richmond Foundation and PNC Charitable Trusts
The Women’s Giving Circle of York County Community Foundation
The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation

We are all for creative collaborations and would love to sit down and see what seeds we might sow together to produce life and love in the City of York 💚
